Tag - I'm It?

I saw this thing making the rounds on some of my friends' blogs, and knew it would get to me eventually. And it did. I need to make it clear up front that I don't mind doing this at all -- I take it for the fun and harmless thing it is. But lately I've been finding myself completely without anything to say. I can't explain it, and I'm not even sure I understand what's happening. I think it's just the season in my life that I'm currently in, and so I'm having to push myself to complete all these answers. I hope I don't come across as mean or grumpy about this, because that's not really how I feel at all. Sometimes written words just don't properly convey subtle underlying elements like sarcasm and such.

  1. I knew you could do it. Cluster headaches - bad stuff. I get migraines all the time. Have you been watching a lot of ice skating lately? (My wife has had hours upon hours recorded in the last few weeks.)

  3. Euphrony - No, I almost never watch ice skating. About once every four years (Olympics) my wife will talk me into sitting down with her and watching the ice skating. She enjoys it, so I go ahead and make a sincere effort to play along. She does the same thing for me with baseball and football, so it's only fair.

    Regarding the headaches -- when you get those, do you have anything effective to treat them? I suffered severe, debilitating headaches for years, which were almost completely unaffected by most pain relievers. Then a few years back, a doctor prescribed Imitrex for me, and it works like a charm most every time.

    Then, last year I had a doctor that recommended a sleep study, and found that something relating to snoring and sleep pattern disruption was a major contributor to the headaches. I use the Breathe Rite strips and strips that stop me from snoring and breathing through my mouth, and my headaches are much fewer, further between, and not nearly as severe (I haven't needed Imitrex in several months now -- OTC meds are now strong enough for me).

    Cach - You are correct, sir. It's usually the only thing that hits the spot for me when I feel thirsty. I occasionally indulge in sweet tea (I'm pretty caffeine sensitive, so I can't have too much) or something like kool-aid or 7-Up, but that's pretty rare.

  4. For headaches, I have tried several OTC and perscribed meds. They all seem to work about the same, so I usually go with simple Advil Migraine (since it realy does work about as well as the perscribed meds I've tried). Pretty much, though, I just have to take time to let it pass. Some are worse than others, naturally, so sometimes I can press on and other times I just have to lay back in a quiet, dark room until its better.

    I have identified many triggers for these headaches, and learn to avoid them. For instance, most scented products (perfumes, colognes, soaps, cleaning solutions) will quickly trigger a headache. Sleeping late (past about 8 am) will almost always result in a persistant headache throughout the day. Bright sunlight when I don't have sunglasses on, as well. On and on.

  5. Admittedly, I am shocked that you cannot land a triple Salchow-triple toeloop combination. I mean really, can't most people? How about a double-double?
